Nestled in the heart of Cherry Valley, New York, the Limestone Mansion stands as a timeless testament to the town's rich history and architectural legacy. Constructed in 1869, this majestic mansion has witnessed the passage of time and remains a cherished landmark in the community.

Originally built as a residence for a prominent local figure, the mansion's grandeur reflects the prosperity and elegance of a bygone era. In the late 1990s, Wolfgang and Loretta Welter took on the mantle of Innkeepers and Owners, breathing new life into the Limestone Mansion. For decades, they lovingly preserved its historic charm and welcomed guests with warmth and hospitality. In 2023, the Welters retired, passing the baton to the new owners, Jim and Suzie Donaldson.

    • ​​​​Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Diners Club.
  2. At what time can guests check-in?
    • ​​Check-in is available anytime after 3:00 pm.
  3. At what time is check-out?
    • Check-out time is by 11:00 am.
  4. Is breakfast provided as part of the stay?
    • Yes, breakfast is included.
  5. Is it possible to invite a non-staying guest to breakfast?
    • Yes, you may arrange for an additional guest at breakfast for a fee. Please provide 24-hour notice.
  6. What is your payment policy? 
    • A 50% deposit is required upon booking.  The balance is due in full at check-in.  
  7. What is the cancellation policy?
    • Cancellation of 14 days or greater receive a full refund of any monies paid.  
    • Cancellations of less than 14 days will forfeit the 50% deposit that was paid.
    • Please read the Limestone Mansion Policies section for additional cancellation information for third party reservations, group reservations, etc. 
  8. Are there elevators?
    • Please note that our historic building, dating back to the 1800s, does not have an elevator. Access to the second and third-floor rooms is provided by a charming staircase, adding to the authentic charm of your stay. If you need assistance with your luggage, we are happy to help.
  9. How far is the Limestone Mansion from the Village of Cooperstown?
    • It is a little over 14 miles which is about a 20 minute drive from the Limestone Mansion to the village of Cooperstown, NY.  

Limestone Mansion Policies

 

ARRIVALS:
Check in time begins at 3:00pm. 
If you arrive before 3:00pm and your room is not ready, you are welcome to leave your car in our parking lot or on the street while you explore Cherry Valley. 

Please call or text 607-286-3933 if you expect to be later than 7:00pm. If leaving a message or texting, please leave your full name and dates of your reservation. 

DEPARTURES:
Check out time is 11am.

MINIMUM STAY:
June through October and holiday weekends, a two-night minimum stay is required when a reservation includes a Saturday night. 

CHILDREN:
At the Limestone Mansion, we strive to create an atmosphere of elegance and tranquility, complemented by our exquisite antique furnishings and delicate breakables. To ensure the comfort and safety of all our guests, we have established the following policy regarding children:

Age Suitability:
•    While our setting is best suited for children over 12 years of age, we welcome families with children of all ages.

Accompanied Stay:
•    Children must stay in the same room as an adult over the age of 25. This requirement is in place to guarantee a responsible and attentive presence, maintaining the integrity of our decor and ensuring the well-being of both children and our valued guests. We will have to charge you for any damage during your stay. 

By adhering to this policy, we aim to create an enjoyable experience for all guests, balancing the welcoming nature of our inn with the preservation of our unique and carefully curated ambiance. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in fostering a harmonious environment at the Limestone Mansion.

ADDITIONAL GUESTS:
Our rooms are priced for 2 or 4 people depending on bedding. There are additional guest charges per guest/per night for guests over the base guest allotment. Some rooms cannot accommodate more than 2 people, and none of our rooms can accommodate more than 4 people per fire code restrictions.

PETS:
Unfortunately, pets are not permitted at Limestone Mansion. For your convenience, we can provide recommendations for local pet boarding services. Thank you for your understanding.

SMOKE FREE:
The Limestone Mansion is a smoke-free hotel. A $250 cleaning fee will be charged for any evidence of smoking within the buildings. Smoking is also prohibited on the back patio and front porch. If you are a heavy smoker, you should consider other accommodations. 

ROOM KEY POLICY:
All room keys & key chains must be returned to either a staff member or the key drop box upon departure. Failure to return them will result in an additional $75 lock replacement charge.

NOTICE TO GUESTS:
At the Limestone Mansion, we are committed to providing a serene and peaceful environment for all our guests. To ensure a restful experience, we have Quiet Hours indoors from 10pm – 8am daily. We request that you keep noise levels to a minimum during the designated quiet hours. Guests who do not respect the quiet hours policy or disrupt the experience for other guests, may be asked to leave without a refund.

PAYMENT POLICY
To secure the dates of your reservation, 50% of the total is due at the time of booking.  The remaining balance will be charged at check-in.  

Rates are subject to state sales tax plus local lodging tax and are subject to change without notice.  

LIMESTONE MANSION CANCELLATION POLICY
As a boutique 10-room inn nestled in charming Cherry Valley, New York, the Limestone Mansion values each guest's experience and endeavors to provide an intimate and personalized stay. Given our limited room inventory, we request adherence to the following cancellation policies:

CANCELLATIONS OF 14 DAYS OR GREATER:
• Full refund of monies paid

CANCELLATIONS OF LESS THAN 14 DAYS:
• Forfeit of the 50% deposit that was paid.

WEDDING OR WHOLE HOUSE RESERVATIONS:
• Wedding or whole house reservations are subject to a 60-day or more notice of cancellation in order to avoid losing deposit money paid.

THIRD PARTY RESERVATIONS:
• Reservations made through third-party websites are bound by the cancellation policies agreed to during the booking on their respective platforms.
• Any cancellations for third-party bookings must be processed through the third-party website.

NO SHOWS & EARLY TERMINATION OF STAY:
• No shows will be charged in full. Guests who terminate their reserved stay early, will not be refunded for the unused days.

SPECIAL CONSIDERATION FOR CONTRACTED RESERVATIONS:
• If your reservation is part of a wedding block or another group block subject to a contract, the terms outlined in the contract supersede the general cancellation policy. Refer to the contract or contact your group host for specific details.
